For the September entry in our schedule of events, the Tamale Hut Cafe Reading Series will be presenting Series regular (and Tamale Hut Cafe goodwill ambassador) Christopher Krazmus as the featured reader. Chris is going to share two stories to launch his second short story collection, Selected THC, GFS, and BG Readings (Tamale Hut Cafe, Gumbo Fiction Salon, and Bad Grammar Theater). He’ll also be talking about the THC Chicagoland Emerging Writers Contest 2014, the prize-awarding literary contest to be established with all proceeds from the book sales.
Copies of Chris’s new book as well as his first collection of open mic material, Selected THC Readings, will be available for purchase. The retail price of Selected THC, GFS, and BG Readings is $10, though Chris has suggested a minimum donation of $20 for the new book (the first and second together for a suggested $30 donation), with all proceeds going to fund the Chicagoland Emerging Writers Contest.
Bring a taste for Chicagoland’s best tamales and tinga, and bring your fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or drama for the open mic that will follow the feature presentation, and BYOB. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the reading begins at 7, on Saturday, September 21, at Tamale Hut Cafe, 8300 W. Cermak, North Riverside. See you then!
Author’s Bio: Since 2008 Chris Krazmus has been writing stories for Chicagoland open mics about friendship and travel; little adventures and good deeds; misfortune, struggle, setback, improvement, and victory; and other things that make life meaningful, with some flying saucers and miracles woven in.
