THC Reading Series Presents Ben Solomon, Saturday, September 20 @ 7 PM

The Hard-Boiled Detective at Tamale Hut CafeDon’t call it a comeback. Or a throwback. And please don’t hold my puns against this month’s featured reader.

The Tamale Hut Cafe Reading Series returns in September with a featured reader whose work is sure to please fans of old-school crime stories. Since February 2013, Ben Solomon has been publishing the stories that make up The Hard-Boiled Detective as entries in an online, subscription-based serial. This month, Solomon will be celebrating the release of The Hard-Boiled Detective 1, a collection that presents the first eleven stories in the series in paperback and e-book format. We’re thrilled to welcome him as part of this month’s Tamale Hut Cafe reading event!

The reading starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, with Mr. Solomon’s presentation; an open mic will follow. As always, admission is free, with food and drink available for purchase. Tamale Hut Cafe is located at 8300 W. Cermak Road in North Riverside.

Hope to see you on the 20th!

bensolomon1809XSAuthor’s Bio: Ben Solomon grew up with Picasso, Cagney and Beethoven. Classical arts training, comic books and Hollywood’s golden age rounded out an education fit for a renaissance-hack, and provided inspiration for a lifetime. He’s worked across disciplines, attempting to capture music upon canvas, translate oils and silver nitrate into words.

Solomon’s passion for the tough guy world of early gangster and PI flicks led to his creation of his short story series, The Hard-Boiled Detective. He premiered the adventures online in
February 2013, offering three yarns a month to subscribers. His hard-boiled and other fiction have appeared in e-zines across the web as well as the 2014 anthology “The Shamus Sampler II.” Another adventure is scheduled for the “Drag Noir” anthology from Fox Spirit in October 2014.
